Hello Spring, We Have Missed You!

There is just something so nice about the change of a season. Like an old friend that you have missed stopping in to say hi. Things somehow feel lighter when the leaf buds start to show on those bare tree branches. Oh, how excited we get when the sunrise makes its happy appearance before the kids get on the bus in the morning. I’m always way more productive on a sun filled day.

Spring makes me feel the need to start something new, a quick refresh. So here is a small, simple list to help inspire welcoming in these warmer, sunny, fresh days.

  • Plant Something

New life and all of that. A sense of hopefulness to plant something new, either inside or out, this time of year with anticipation that you will have something beautiful to look at all summer long.

  • Drink your Coffee Outside

There is peace in the early mornings with a good cup of coffee and warm sunrise. The world is just brighter with a clear mind to tackle the day. Sunny mornings with your favorite mug just feel better.

  • Check the Small Things off your List

This one just feels good once you’ve done it, cross that to-do off your list. I’m not talking about the crazy, big projects (but if you’re feeling up to it, go for it!). Just completing the smallest task; set up the vet appointment, write a thank you note, wipe down the backsplash. It can help to make you feel accomplished and maybe a little motivated to keep going.

  • Take a Walk

Besides being good for your heart health, burn calories, weight loss, etc. A quick walk can help you to de-stress and improve your mood. My Mummu (Finnish word for Grandma) walked every day, and I believe it had a huge impact on her life and overall health. Nothing like a little fresh air for your soul. Just out your front door or explore some State Parks if you’re lucky enough to have some close by.

  • Declutter and Donate

This one can be tough, it’s hard to let go of those things you think you will eventually use. I try to use the “if I did not wear it in the past year” rule, then donate it. Finally cleaning out that cabinet or drawer can be freeing. It really only does take a few minutes to go through and put away that mail off the counter. Small things can make big impacts, especially on my mood. Maybe fill a bag or box once every few weeks to donate, someone else will really love that item you simply don’t use anymore.

Let that Spring sunshine and warmer weather help motivate you to do some simple projects that can make you feel refreshed. Good luck!
