This one was a surprising one for me. Again, I DO NOT have a green thumb, and our yard could really use someone who does. This one was a simple, super affordable garden project using dollar store seed packets, some solo cups/empty fruit containers and bag of potting soil.

It started strong in the house, and when I transferred them into our “boat” garden they looked pretty sad, and I thought no way this will stick. To my surprise, they really thrived! I will say I simply sprinkled the last of the wildflower seed packet into the last section of the boat garden and it did just as well, if not a bit better than the other sections with the transplanted seedlings. Next year I will make it easier for myself and just start from seeds in my boat garden. I might even try to plant one type of flower in the boat garden and seed the wildflower seeds along our pond edge instead.

Either way, this was a success in my book. I am slowly learning, don’t get me started on how crazy the few pumpkin seedlings are growing….I would most definitely plant these babies in a different spot. Man did they go wild. So here we go, sharing a photo dump of the dollar store wildflower seed adventure start to finish below.

Pumpkins gone wild, just for fun!! (orange netting to protect our growing pumpkins from our crazy boys!)

This summer I learned that I can indeed grow some pretty things from seeds. I will make a few changes for next year. If I chose to grow pumpkins again, I will for certain grow them out of reach of our two crazy boys. Here’s to a nice ending to this small step.
